Opgroeien in KLEUR – Een boek voor ouders
Eind 2021 verscheen mijn boek Opgroeien in Kleur. Een boek voor ouders die willen weten hoe je in het gezin kunt praten over ‘kleur’ en racisme. (English tag: a book about anti-racist parenting)
De Stevinpremie
In 2021 ontving ik de NWO Stevinpremie van 2,5 miljoen euro voor mijn onderzoek dat bijdraagt aan de samenleving.
Risky beginnings (2014-2019): This study examined trajectories from maternal and paternal characteristics from before the birth of a child to the quality of parent-child interactions in early life in relation to child cognitive development in toddlerhood.
The study was funded by an NWO-ORA grant and carried out as a collaborative project with New York University (PI Clancy Blair) and Cambridge University (PI Claire Hughes). PhD students Mi-lan Woudstra, Marjolein Branger and Wei Li, co-supervised by Rosanneke Emmen.
Hostile attributions and risk for harsh parenting (2012-2018):
This study was conducted with many international collaborators (see Team) and led to a series of publications arguing that sensitivity appears to be universal but not uniform.
Magellan-Leiden Childcare Study (2014-2018):
The follow-up of a study on the effects of childcare quantity and quality on children’s cognitive and social development in Chilean children from ethnic majority and indigenous origins. PhD student Regina Loehndorff, co-supervised by Harriet Vermeer and Rodrigo Carcamo.
Boys will be boys? (2010-2015):
This project was funded by an ERC Starting Grant awarded to Judi Mesman in 2009. PhD students Joyce Endendijk, Sheila van Berkel, Liesbeth Hallers, Lotte van der Pol, co-supervised by Marleen Groeneveld and Marian Bakermans-Kranenburg.
